About the True COGS: Avg Cost & Profit
True COGS tracks your actual product costs and calculates real profit for every sale. Unlike Shopify's fixed cost per item, this app uses weighted average or FIFO costing that updates automatically when purchase orders arrive. Each sale gets costed at your average cost on that specific day.
The app calculates net profit by subtracting payment fees (including Shopify Payments and gateway rates), shipping costs, monthly fixed costs, and ad spend imported from CSV files. You'll see exactly what each sale earned after all fees and expenses.
Purchase order prices record themselves on arrival, while transfers and quantity changes wait for you to confirm the price, freight, and duty. The app helps you find products with missing costs or items priced below cost. You can also import Stocky purchase orders with original dates as cost history. Any cost you haven't provided is clearly named and never counted as zero, ensuring accurate profit reporting.
