About the LG VAT Exempt & VIES Validator
This app validates EU VAT numbers in VIES, plus Swiss UID and Norwegian business IDs. It removes VAT only for verified B2B buyers, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
The free plan includes 100 VAT checks monthly and displays prices with and without VAT. Customers can enter their VAT number in the cart, customer account, or at checkout (Shopify Plus required for checkout). The app performs live validation in VIES and checks Swiss and Norwegian registers on the Pro plan. Shopify B2B companies are automatically exempted.
If VIES is unavailable, you can choose to deny exemption, reuse the last valid check, or grant provisional exemption. Every order includes validation proof. The app generates EC Sales List and OSS CSV reports for your records.
It integrates with Shopify Flow for automated VAT validation with valid/invalid triggers. Customer support is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and additional languages. All data is hosted in the EU for privacy compliance.
