About the Variant Guard ‑ SKU & Barcode
Variant Guard scans your product variants to find missing or duplicate SKUs and barcodes, invalid GTIN checksums, non-standard barcode formats, and zero prices. Filter affected variants and open the source product directly in Shopify to review issues. When SKUs are missing, the app creates a deterministic fix preview using templates before applying any changes to your catalog. Existing SKUs are never replaced during this workflow, and any product edits made after the preview are automatically skipped as conflicts. The app helps you maintain clean product data but does not generate or certify barcodes.
