About the CostLedger ‑ COGS & Margins

CostLedger helps Shopify merchants track accurate COGS and profit margins even when supplier costs change. Since Shopify only stores one current cost per variant, price changes can distort what earlier inventory actually cost. This app maintains a dated ledger using moving-average calculations to preserve true cost basis. Record inventory receipts manually, upload via CSV, or on Shopify Plus import directly from completed Purchase Order PDFs. Review each line and excluded cost before recording—CostLedger never modifies your Shopify data. Access sale-date margin reports that show profitability based on actual costs when items sold. Get estimated monthly COGS, inventory valuation with coverage details, and margin alerts delivered by email or Slack. Audit moving-average costs, export ledger data and reports, and use guarded PO receipt reversals when needed.
