About the HewnScan

HewnScan helps you meet European Accessibility Act (EAA) requirements by running accessibility audits on your Shopify store. The app performs 26 automated checks based on WCAG 2.1 A/AA and EN 301 549 standards, including theme colour contrast testing. What makes HewnScan different is its ability to trace each accessibility violation back to the specific third-party app that caused it—not just your theme. This matters because under the EAA, you're responsible for all markup injected into your storefront, even from installed apps. The app runs scheduled re-scans and emails you when your accessibility score drops, so you can catch issues before they become problems. You can export detailed reports for your records and generate an accessibility statement to publish on your site.
